Reflexx Robotics wins twice!

MAY 15th, 2009 – Ontario California.

This month, The Tech Coast Angels held their annual “Fast Pitch Competition.” This is “the” event in in Southern California for entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas to the largest investor group in California.  Over the last decade, The Tech Coast Angles have invested over $1 billion in local companies. This event was held on May 14th in front of a live audience. The winner(s) of this event will be given the opportunity to give a full presentation of their business proposal in front of the Tech Coast Angels. This is the first step in receiving angel investor funding.

Over the previous few weeks, over 60 applicants submitted their 90 second “elevator pitches.” An elevator pitch works on the premise that you must be able to explain your business/proposal in the length of an elevator ride (60 to 90 seconds). Of the 60 applicants, 40 were invited to the first coaching/judging session. Gene Sherman (president of Reflexx Robotics) was there to give his “fast pitch.” One week later the field was narrowed to 20 companies and another coaching/judging session was held. Reflexx Robotics made the cut again! After a much improved second pitch, Reflexx Robotics made it to the final 12 that would present on stage.

On May 14th 2009, the “Fast Pitch” event was held in Ontario California. There was a judging panel of 6 industry experts and investors along with an audience of over 150 people. In this even there were to be two awards, one for “best presentation” and another for “best investment opportunity.” Twelve companies presented their “fast pitches.” When all the presentations were finished, the awards were announced. In each category there is only a winner and a runner-up. In the category of best presentation, Reflexx Robotics was called up on stage along with another local company. Both were told that it was a very close decision. When the award was announced, Reflexx Robotics received the runner-up award of second place! Both companies received a big round of applause.

After receiving this award Gene Sherman was walking back to his seat. But he was stopped and asked to stay on the stage. He was told that he was also in the running for  “best investment opportunity” award. This resulted in another round of applause. When this award was announced, Reflexx Robotics again received the runner-up award!

Winning second place in BOTH categories resulted in Reflexx Robotics gaining more attention than any other company that was present. This event also resulted in excellent exposure for Reflexx Robotics, along with networking opportunities.

Reflexx Robotics will now begin the process of meeting with members of the Tech Coast Angles group for discussions about investment opportunities.

The transcript of Reflexx Robotics’ Fast Pitch:

  • Unmanned Robotic Vehicles are the perfect solution for those numerous jobs that are either too dull, or too dirty or too dangerous for humans.  At Reflexx Robotics we are developing just such driverless vehicles!

  • For example, our troops in the Middle East, haul over a 100 pounds of gear on their backs for hours at a time. Our vehicles are the ideal solution. It can carry their gear, protect them, act as lookout and sentry, clear land mines, and can run for days!

  • As a matter of fact, the US military is under congressional mandate to be ONE THIRD robotic by 2015 and that’s a huge opportunity for us.

  • Another example is border patrol, Our southern border is just too vast to be patrolled by just manpower.  Our vehicles can solve this problem. It can patrol the border day and night, 24/7 with sensors that are much more powerful than any human eyes.

  • There are additional uses in logistics, agriculture, security, and others. Between private, military and commercial markets, there is potential for thousands of our robotic vehicles.

  • We have the “patent-able” technology, we have the know-how, we know our market and are few competitors. What we are looking for is an investment of $500,000 to move from R&D and prototypes to production and marketing.

  • And one more thing, we have just sold one of our vehicles to a major military contractor!

  • Thank you.
