ARCHERs are medium-sized, robotic vehicle platforms with dozens of applications. Equipped with a unique series hybrid (gas/electric) power-plant for very long unattended operation! From academic research to unmanned vehicle development, the ARCHER platform is ready. .
The basic ARCHERs are not complete robotic systems, but the platform upon which you can easily place any (task specific) systems and/or payloads. In addition, we can create a complete ARCHER based system tailored to your needs and mission requirements.
ARCHER V = HYBRID POWER ARCHER E = ELECTRIC POWER
Why the ARCHERs make sense
In the past, when creating a platform for any kind of unmanned or remote controlled operation, the choices have been very limiting. You either use a tiny remote controlled toy car, convert a golf cart/ATV, or modify a full size vehicle. For many reasons, these other “platforms” are far from ideal for this purpose. In addition, it wastes valuable time, money and resources in converting them for robotic use. Of course, there is always the option to buy military grade solutions, but the price and availability of these make that choice very unrealistic.
Why re-invent the wheel? Why do all the researching, designing, ordering, machining, fabricating, and troubleshooting, just to create an untested platform? The goal of the ARCHERs project was to create an affordable, mid-size, robotic vehicle platform that is READY to be used for your application. Our vehicle was designed from the ground up for this type of use. Just place your payload on top and feed the ARCHER (via serial port) the three basic inputs (throttle, steering and brakes).
Why ARCHERs are different
Hybrid charging / power system. A small gasoline engine runs a 50 amp alternator to charge the on-board batteries and power any additional installed payload.
Electric drive, brake and steering systems. A 24 volt all-electric, drive system is simple and reliable.
200lb payload capacity and a 6 square foot mounting surface. Unlimited mounting possibilities using the “8020.net” rail system.
Only proven, COTS (Consumer Off The Shelf) components. All individually sealed to protect against the elements.
Forward or reverse DRIVE modes! Steer with rear wheels for very tight turns, or front wheels for higher speeds!
Built like an off-road race truck. Square steel tube chassis, aluminum skin, and very heavy duty construction for all-terrain use.
Real (ATV based) suspensionsystem, with large 16×8-7 tires. A smooth ride for your instrumentation and sensors.
Small enough to fit in the bed of a pickup. Or a Humvee, or mini-van, or on a hitch-type carrier.
What you can do with ARCHER
A TEST BED - A test bed for 3D vision / radar / LIDAR / sonar systems. A vehicle to show your company’s hardware or software capabilities.
FOR RESEARCH - Autonomous / Tele-operation / GPS path / convoy vehicle research. A reusable platform that can be used year after year.
FOR SCHOOLS - University research, robotics clubs and Mini-Grand Challenge / Intelligent Vehicle type events.
AS A PACK MULE - Military service/ troop support vehicle (aka ” packmule”). Take the heavy loads off of our soldiers backs and help carry all their gear. We are currently developing the BATTLEWAGON variant for this application, it is based off the ARCHER-XL platform.
FOR MINE DETECTION - Mine detection and road/path clearing platform. Just add your mine detector(s)!
AS A MOBILE GENERATOR - Mobile, self-powered generator / power source / tool carrier. A generator that delivers itself to your worksite!
FOR PERIMETER PATROL - Border / perimeter sentry / security duty. Day or night, any weather, always on duty. We are currently developing the SENTINEL Variant for this application.
AS A IED-EOD ROBOT - Bomb service robot for military and police use. Or a delivery system for smaller robots!
FOR LOGISTICS - Transporter of heavy objects (ammo / tools / parts) from one point to another.
AS A CAMERA RIG - A camera rig for motion pictures / television. A fast, stable platform for action shots.
MANY OTHER USES - The possibilities are endless….
